As part of the software engineering division, you will utilize your foundational to intermediate understanding of software architecture to undertake various software development tasks. These tasks may involve developing, debugging, or designing software applications or operating systems based on provided design specifications. You will also contribute to enhancing existing software architecture and occasionally propose improvements to further refine the architecture.
Job Role and Responsibility
- Engineer to assist in improving the quality of Linux and virtualization products as it relates to running Oracle products on Linux and in the Cloud.
- This includes defining, designing and developing tests and open source kits, debugging and solving of issues in the Linux / Oracle virtualization/Cloud stack;
- QA of Oracle Linux, UEK and Oracle virtualization Releases used for the Cloud and on-prem. Linux and Oracle expertise is expected
- Linux and Oracle expertise is expected, as well as experience on one or more Linux distributions and experience with Oracle VM, KVM
- Experience in design and development would be beneficial
- Will be responsible to research new features for Linux Usersapce packages/rpms, develop test plans, test and automate testcases and Develop regression suites as well for userspace
- Debug/solve issues in this env to help isolate the issue
- Work with developers/upstream to fix any rpm build and functional related issues
- Automate the testing and triaging for the same
- Work/engage with engineers globally for effective communication and results
Skills Required that will help succeed
- 2+ years relevant experience in a software development environment
- Knowledge of cloud solutions & tools
- Familiarity with virtualization solutions, KVM, QEMU and libvirt
- Must have in-depth knowledge of Operating Systems concepts, Linux userspace rpms build,testing and automation
- Linux Kernel & kernel subsystems basics
- Linux Usersapce packages/rpms & tools familiarity
- System booting & crash verification
- OS Automation and Integration: c,scripting with shell, Python,PERL
- Experience working with an agile methodology & tools
- Experience working with CI/CD, jenkin, jira,confluence , container technologies
- Excellent architectural skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences
- Self-starter with a quick learning style and ability to work independently
- Candidate must be comfortable in a virtual/distributed team environment
- Self motivated with the can-do attitude. Proven track record to deliver quality solution in a fast paced environment & timely delivery of the project
